Queensland Rail Diesel Locomotive #DL3
These DL-class locomotives were the first diesel locomotives in service in Queensland. DL3 (seen here) was built in 1961 as one-of-four by Walkers Engineering (Maryborough). It was named Mt Surprise after one of the destinations on its initial deployment line.
This locomotive was decomissioned in 1988, but remains operational at the Rosewood Railway Museum. Its older sister, DL1, is on permanent display a few miles up the road at the Ipswich Workshops Museum, but it is listed as display/non-operational.
